The second in the ancient future trilogy

This book would be the answer for those who feared what Tori's tampering with the past has done. This story is darker than the first novel and begins with the entrance of negative emotions such as jealousy, anger, prejudice etc. Also there are slight political undertones as well here. Furthermore we are all reminded in this book that life- for many ends. It is a bittersweet book that closes the chapter of the dark ages and signals the end of Tori and Maelgwn's rule and the rise of the younger generation.
Also this book gets a bit confusing, because we meet all these new sets of characters that are the past reincarnations of those tori has met before so to keep the names straight takes a bit of work- even if there is a list of names in the book.
Much of the story revolves around the lost city of Atlantis and a few questions (from the first book) are answered in this one.
The ending of this book is a perfect spring board to the next novel which is the gathering. I highly recommend this book- but only to those that liked Traci Harding's first book in the series- furthermore I don't recommend buying this book if you haven't read the first book- while you may understand the events and characters and the plot without reading the ancient future: the dark age, you cannot experience the full impact of this novel.
